Please have the following supporting documents ready to upload (in PDF) to the online application form:

• A scan of your passport
• A copy of your degree certificate, license or registration
• An up-to-date copy of your CV/Resume

• A letter of motivation* of approximately 500 words addressing your interest in creative writing. State your experience with writing, whether you have already studied creative writing, published anything, or are a complete beginner drawn to this craft. Address your goals and what you expect to learn from this course. 
  Note: this is the most important part of your application.

• Pay the non-refundable €25 application fee by credit card.
  
  *Applicants should not use AI tools to write their motivation letters. The motivation letter is the most important part of your application and the admissions committee values genuine, personal insights written in your authentic voice. The UvA considers the use of AI as fraudulant. Read more about the regulations here.

Early admissions deadline

Students who require a Schengen Visa to study in the Netherlands are strongly advised to apply before the early deadline to ensure there is enough time to secure a visa appointment before the programme begins.

• Deadline: Saturday 1 February 2025

• Admissions decision: we aim to have a decision back to you as soon as possible, but by 28 February 2025 at the latest.

• Payment deadline (tuition and housing) must be submitted within 2 weeks after being accepted in the programme.

Regular admissions deadline

• Deadline: Saturday 15 March 2025
• Admissions decision: we aim to have a decision back to you as soon as possible, but by 15 April 2025 at the latest.
• Payment deadline (tuition and housing) must be submitted within 1 week after being accepted in the programme.
