Application Procedures
Please have the following supporting documents ready (in PDF) to upload to the online application form, and select the appropriate programme from the dropdown menu:
- A scan of your passport
- A copy of your transcripts/list of courses taken and grades achieved
- An up-to-date copy of your CV/Resume
- Please write a motivation letter* (600-750 words) addressing your interest in a specific instance of international relations. What interests you about this event, and why do you believe that international relations is an important topic to study? Please reflect broadly on international relations as a field in relation to the specific instance/event that you have chosen. What are the effects on society at a variety of levels (personal, national, etc.) and link it to a broader (global) political discourse. Please link your past academic and extracurricular experience to the field of political science and why you wish to study in an international university environment. Further, state how this programme will contribute to your future academic goals. Note: this is the most important part of your application and will be considered as your first assignment for the programme.
- Pay the €25 application fee by credit card.
*Applicants should not use AI tools to write their motivation letters. The motivation letter is the most important part of your application and the admissions committee values genuine, personal insights written in your authentic voice. The UvA considers the use of AI as fraudulant. Read more about the regulations here.
