U21/LERU Partial Scholarship

If your university is a member of the Universitas 21 network and/or LERU network then you may be eligible for a partial scholarship of €500.  You must also be a current student at that university when you apply for the summer programme.  If you graduate before the start of the summer programme but were a student at the time of submitting your application, you will still be eligible for the scholarship.

Students studying at Dutch universities on these lists are not eligible for these scholarships.

You must verify that your home university is a member of the LERU network and/or the U21 network. The Summer Programmes Office GSSS will then be able to submit your application to the U21/LERU scholarship fund. The final decision on granting these scholarships is made by the UvA following acceptance of the candidates into the summer programmes. The €500 scholarship will be deducted from your tuition.

  • Step 1: Check your eligibility by making sure that your home university is in the LERU or U21 network.
  • Step 2:  Apply to the programme and indicate that you are applying for a LEUR or U21 scholarship.
  • Step 3: Upon acceptance you will hear if you have received the partial scholarship.

Global Exchange Partner (GEP) Tuition Remission

Tuition scholarships awarded by your home international office

Certain universities may have bilateral exchange agreements which lead to tuition remission for some of the UvA Summer School programmes. Check our list of partner universities to see if we have such a formal Global Exchange Programme agreement with your home university. Your home international office should also be able to inform you if such an agreement exists and what the rules and regulations are.

  • Step 1: Check your eligibility by making sure that your home university is a GEP university.
  • Step 2:  Contact your home university's international office and inform them that you are applying for this programme and you understand you may be eligible for partial or full tuition remission.
  • Step 3: Apply to the programme and indicate that you are applying for a GEP tuition remission (when it asks if you have applied to any scholarships).
  • Step 4: Upon acceptance you will hear if you have received any tuition remission.  This will depend on the agreements between the University of Amsterdam and your home university.

Amsterdam University Fund (AUF Travel grant)

The Amsterdam University Fund has several travel grants on offer. These travel grants are for third year bachelor and master students. The travel grant can only be used to cover travel costs.  It cannot be used in conjuncture with other scholarships (i.e. LERU/U21/GEP). The Amsterdam University Fund (Stichting Amsterdams Universiteitsfonds) is a joint initiative of the University of Amsterdam Alumni Association (AUV) and the University of Amsterdam (UvA). In order to apply for the travel grant, you must have a complete application on file with the Summer Programmes Office.
