Please check your eligibility below
Various scholarship opportunities are available to UvA Summer School students. Also check the programme of your choice for specific scholarship information.
Tuition scholarships awarded by your home international office
Certain universities may have bilateral exchange agreements which lead to partial or full tuition remission for some of the UvA Summer School courses. Check our list of partner universities to see if we have such a formal Global Exchange Programme agreement with your home university. Your home international office should also be able to inform you if such an agreement exists and what the rules and regulations are.
U21/LERU Partial Scholarship
If your university is a member of the Universitas 21 network and/or LERU network then you may be eligible for a partial scholarship of €500. You must also be a current student at that university when you apply for the summer programme. If you graduate before the start of the summer programme but were a student at the time of submitting your application, you will still be eligible for the scholarship.
Please note: Students studying at Dutch universities on these lists are not eligible for these scholarships.
You must verify that your home university is a member of the LERU network and/or the U21 network. The Summer Programmes Office GSSS will then be able to submit your application to the U21/LERU scholarship fund. The final decision on granting these scholarships is made by the UvA following acceptance of the candidates into the summer programmes. The €500 scholarship will be deducted from your tuition.
- Step 1: Check your eligibility by making sure that your home university is in the LERU or U21 network.
- Step 2: Check whether a scholarship is available for the summer course in which you are interested.
- Step 3: Apply to the course of your choice and mention your eligibility.
- Step 4: When you are accepted to the course, the scholarship will be granted automatically.
The Amsterdam University Fund (AUF Travel Grant)
The Amsterdam University Fund (AUF) also supports a number of international students who register for a summer course at the University of Amsterdam. The AUF covers part of the travel expenses for a limited number of students (there is a fixed budget). Students receiving LERU or U21 scholarships are not eligible for the AUF; it is available for third year-Bachelor's and Master's students only. Please ask the contact person from the faculty organising the course of your choice for more information.
Below you will find links to scholarship databases and other known places to look for funding. There is also information for American and Canadian students who are interested in applying for a loan.
